The Live of Takahara Yong-Chi

Being the only son of Ri-Yue and Kazuyo Takahara, Yong-Chi's fate piloting a Battlemech soon became evident.

In his early years the ability to learn new skills very quickly allowed him to jump a class in basic school, without ever dragging behind in any subject.

He left his parents at the age of fifteen and joined the DCMS in Buckminster. The dream of becoming a samurai for Lord Kurita was over as he finished only second best fo his class. The promotion to a Heishi and the assignment to 3rd Benjamin Regiment on his home planet was never a compensation for the disappointment. Convinced of the fact, that some other 'Mechwarriors allowed to samurai training were not able to hold a candle on him, he began questioning the system, but never let anyone know about it.

The heavy lance under command of Chu-i Toyo Ban consists of a ARC-2K Archer, a CRD-3K Crusader, a DRG-1G Grand Dragon and a DRN-1C Dragon, which is Yong-Chi's Battlemech. Yong-Chi and one lancemate are newbies and replace two warriors who took serious injuries during the fourth succession war.

The first years in his soldier career were dominated by troop guarding and base defending missions. Underground forces with a lot of heavy-armored tanks were a constant threat for the ore mines on Izurzun. On a night attack run Yong-Chi destroyed a dozen tanks. In this fight his commander got seriously wounded by a lucky headshot of an Autocannon/10. Yong-Chi and his lancemates covered up for their commander, as they kept it as a secret, that he did not continue fighting after the hit. His effort in this battle lead to a promotion to Gun-jin for Yong-Chi and - for his future even more important - he learned, that there is a life besides "the mission of a warrior is to die in battle".

About a year later his lance is instructed to take a sabotage run on an industrial area with military importance on Blue Diamond. The fascination for being part of an attack mission left as fast as it had come because the whole story turned out to be a kamikaze commando. After two of Yong-Chi's lancemates were killed in action by the defending mercenary unit featuring a BNC-3S Banshee, Toyo Ban was asked to surrender, but declined although there was no chance to win that battle anymore. Yong-Chi recognized, that this fight would have been his last, if fighting continued. He was offered to be treated fairly, if he will desert to the enemy. It took him only seconds to accept and it took a little more, until two PPC hits from the Banshee lead to an ammunition and reactor explosion of Toyo Ban's Archer.
Yong-Chi got paid for his "move" with 3.000.000,- C-Notes in exchange for his damaged Battlemech. There was no possibility to go back home and he was advised to join the mercenary unit on their way back to Galatea a month later and then try to find a new employer. On Galatea he bought a BJ-DC Blackjack, the heaviest Battlemech he could afford of those who were available.

It took Yong-Chi nearly a month to get comfortable on Galatea and to start his search for new friends, as the existing mercenary units were prejudiced because of his origin. He met Theobald von Stein on a site of an old unoccupied warehouse, in which both were interested in using it as a 'Mechhangar. After first differences were put aside, they finally decided to form a mercenary unit, together with some other people Yong-Chi did not know at that time, but von Stein promised them being trustworthy. Since then they are known as the "Harbingers of Defeat".
