Assault

Galisteo, , 3025-05-12

In the vicinity of the storage area we detected a lance of light 'Mechs: a Valkyrie, a Firestarter, a Spider and a Javelin 'Mech. This would be an easy job we thought - until swarms of long range missiles rained down on us revealing an Archer 'Mech, commanded by Kapitan Daridov the enemy leader.

This time, having learned from our experience with the Stalker, we concentrated on destroying the heavier 'Mech first, fighting the lighter ones only when we could not zero in on the Archer.

hod2 and hod3 advanced on our left flank through wooded terrain while hod1, hod5 and hod4, advanced on the right flank, taking advantage of the hills there to evade the missile fire.

The Archer soon had taken a lot of damage while the damage suffered by us was relatively light. Daridov only evacuated his 'Mech after we had peeled every armor plate of it and crippled one of his legs. At this point the Archer had only one medium laser remaining - all other weapons had been destroyed.

While my lance finished business with the Archer, all the time having the annouying light 'Mechs throwing rockets and laser beams on us, my sensors detectd the sinature of another 'Mech behind one of the buildings. When I rounded the corner I found myself face to face with a Hunchback. Immediately I felt the autocannon/20 which nearly tore off my right arm. Fortunately no damage was done to my PPC.

As if the appearance of the Hunchback did not complicate matters enough, my sensors cought glimpse of yet another BatteMech being started up in another storage building. Again I scouted the new threat only to discover a Victor this time!

As my lance already took a heavy toll of lost armor plates, the Hunchback and Victor with their AC/20s in these confined conditions clearly put the advantage with our enemies, so I ordered a retreat. For hod3 this decision came too late though and he lost his right torso and as a result the right arm to a burst of the Hunchback's AC/20.

The Victor let loose with his AC/20 and hit my right arm again which was already nearly severed by the AC/20 shot from the Hunchback. This time no armour saved the arm and I lost it togehter with my main armament (the PPC) as well as half of my right torso.

Running away at top speed hod5 grabbed the arm of hod3 while I destroyed the hulk of the Archer.

We retreated at the fastest pace possible, being pursued by the Marik 'Mechs. Kapitan Daridov was infurated about the loss of his Archer, and demanded of his troops, that the pilot who destroyed it was to be punished - that happenend to be me.

I escaped without receiving to much damage and even managed to destroy one leg of the spider on the run. As all enemy 'Mechs concentrated on me, the rest of my lance was able to escape without problem.
